We Are Proudly Canadian!

Title

From the bottom of West Hawk Lake to the top of Birds Hill we are Canadian. We employ local Manitoban folk from Winnipeg, Kleefeld, Beausejour, Rosser and Ile Des Chenes.

We fuel up at the Co-op, source our aggregates from Lac Du Bonnet and Stonewall. We truck in our products from Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and the U.S. Over 300 truck loads each year. Every single load we bring in is hauled by a great Canadian Trucker. We direct ship containers from our overseas friends in Germany, Italy, India, Turkey, and Vietnam. All of which get rail hauled in Canada by CN and CP, two great Canadian railways.

As a small, locally owned Canadian business, we bring the best global products to the greatest customers in the world; You! We take pride in our roots, in supporting our community, and in growing our business right here in the heart of Canada, the greatest country in the world.

Why can paver colours vary slightly?

Pavers are a bit like cookies, every batch can turn out just a little different. It’s rare, but because concrete is made from a blend of ingredients, the dyes can react in slightly different ways from batch to batch. It’s completely normal, and not anyone’s fault.

These small variations usually aren’t noticeable, but when they do happen, installing pavers from multiple pallets at the same time helps blend everything together for a beautifully consistent look.

It’s a simple best‑practice that keeps your patio looking seamless, even if Mother Nature and concrete chemistry decide to add a tiny bit of “cookie‑style” uniqueness.

What is efflorescence (efflo) and why does it happen?

Efflorescence is a natural part of the curing process for concrete. Sometimes it shows up as a white, chalky film on the surface of your pavers. It doesn’t happen every time, but it can happen with any concrete product: foundations, sidewalks, poured pads, and yes, pavers too. When it does appear, it can make the colour look a bit faded, especially on darker pavers where the white stands out more.

It’s important to know that efflorescence isn’t anyone’s fault. It’s simply chemistry doing its thing. It tends to show up more in environments with high moisture and lots of sunlight, and it always goes away naturally over time as weather wears it off.

Some manufacturers, like County Materials and Empire, use processes that help reduce the chance of efflo forming in the first place. And if you choose porcelain pavers, you won’t have to worry about efflo at all, porcelain doesn’t experience this issue.

A quick caution: while efflo cleaners exist, we do not recommend using them. If applied incorrectly, they can dissolve the surface and permanently damage your pavers.

If you’d like a quicker cosmetic fix, a wet‑look sealer can help bring the colour back and add a nice shine while the efflo naturally fades away.

Is delivery day the same as installation day?

Delivery day is not installation day, and here’s why. We know everyone is excited to start their project right away, but pavers aren’t pizzas. Moving anywhere from 1,000 lbs to 24,000+ lbs of material takes planning, coordination, and the right equipment.

We always do our best to get your order to you when you need it, but we kindly ask for one week’s notice. This gives us time to prepare your order, schedule your delivery, and make sure everything arrives safely and on time.

A little planning goes a long way, helping keep your project running smoothly from the very first pallet.

What is a screed layer and why does it matter?

Your screed layer is the smooth, level surface your pavers rest on. It’s what makes your patio look straight, even, and professionally finished. In a traditional installation, this layer is made from coarse sand placed on top of your compacted limestone base. In the Liquidator Method, your screed layer is the Cherrystone you spread and level out.

The goal of a screed layer is simple: create a perfectly even surface with a slight slope of ⅛"–¼" per linear foot so water drains away from your patio instead of pooling. A good screed layer means your pavers sit beautifully, stay stable, and shed water exactly the way they should.

Why do we charge a pallet deposit?

Most of our products arrive on wooden pallets, and thanks to the rising cost of lumber, and our desire to be kind to the environment, each pallet comes with a deposit. When you return your pallets, we send them back to our suppliers and get that deposit refunded.

It might feel like a small extra step, but it helps reduce waste, reuse materials, and save a few trees along the way. 🌲

Where should I park when visiting?

When you stop by our Kotelko Dr. location, we kindly ask that you park on the road just like our staff does. It’s simply the safest place to be. Our yard is a busy workspace with heavy equipment moving around throughout the day, and we’ve had a few close calls with visitors driving in unexpectedly. We’d like to keep everyone (including you!) out of the way of a loader that doesn’t know you’re there.

We also store most of our products in the yard, which means tight spaces that can make maneuvering a trailer… let’s just say “an adventure.”

If you’re picking up or returning pallets, parking on the street and checking in with our office team is the best move. They’ll coordinate with our loader operator to make sure it’s safe for you to enter the yard, and sometimes we’ll even bring the pallets right out to you to keep things simple and keep yard traffic to a minimum.

Your safety is our priority, and this little parking habit helps a lot.

Why do we have a self‑loading policy?

There are a few simple reasons! First, it’s not fair (or safe) to ask our staff to climb into someone else’s vehicle. Even with the best intentions, accidents can happen, and we never want to risk damaging your vehicle.

Second, loading heavy slabs requires clear communication, one wrong move can lead to injuries. Keeping our team safe is a top priority.

Third, with so many awesome customers coming through each day, it’s tough (and unsafe) for one person to load bricks nonstop. That’s why we have a strict self‑loading policy for any order under a full pallet.

If you’re buying a full pallet and can be loaded with our front‑end loader, we’re happy to help at no extra charge.

We completely understand that some customers have physical limitations. In those cases, we kindly ask you to plan ahead and bring a friend to help. If that’s not possible, delivery might be the best option, that way you only handle the product once it arrives.

We want everyone to have a great experience, but there are some practical limits when it comes to loading safely.

Why do we recommend buying a little extra?

In the construction world, it’s standard to grab about 10% more material than you think you’ll need. Don’t worry, building your own patio isn’t exactly putting up an apartment complex, so in our experience an extra 2% is plenty for DIY projects.

We suggest this small buffer because some of our products are limited runs or discontinued. Once they’re gone… they’re gone. If you fall in love with one of those items, you don’t want to end up short on the final few pieces.

Our team will walk you through this at the time of purchase to make sure it’s the right choice for your project. Some products are easy to restock, and others are a little more elusive.

Plus, having a couple of spare pavers on hand is always a good idea. Life happens, and it’s nice to know you can replace a piece if needed.
